Many of our customers ask us the same question: “How can I take my surfboard to your surf camp?” The surfing sometimes has these things, you have to travel with your surfboard and it’s not exactly hand luggage. 🙂 That’s why we’re going to give you 3 recommendations so that you can bring your surfboards safely.
The first thing to keep in mind is that if you are going to travel by plane some companies put a weight limit. This limit usually ranges between 20 kg and 30 kg. Calculate the weight of your surfboards and your luggage well. Whether you are traveling by plane or using another means of transport, it is very important that you contact your flight company or your travel company to be informed of any restrictions you may encounter. Do not forget to ask for both, the weight limit and the length limit allowed. Most flight companies accept a length limit close to 3m, but it’s always better to ask than to arrive at your destination only with half a table! 🙂
Once we have the transport insured and all the information, we go to the next step, which is to prepare the surfboard for the trip. You will need a cover for your surfboard, it can be hard or soft. A good option are the Shapers travel cases, which have very interesting models for around € 50, which is not bad. The important thing here is that they have a good padding.
In addition to the cover, good internal protection is recommended. We recommend that you spend time wrapping your surfboard with bubble wrap and packing tape to protect it from unexpected bumps. When you put your board in the sheath make sure there are no spaces left and that the result is compact.
